"so bright, and they match"
these people scare me. they are homeschooled and indoctrinated with their parent's beliefs, and they come here and have those same ideas reinforced over and over again. i believe in to each his (and her) own, but i sure as hell don't want any of them representing me in government.
my personal favorite is "Ben Adams, who sent out a nine-page e-mail to the entire student body before the spring formal reminding the girls to dress modestly. 'Lust is sin,' it said. 'It is sin for you to tempt us. It is . . . unloving. Unsisterly. Un-Christlike.'" i'd love to see him let loose in panama city for spring break.
then there's the "rebel" who says, "'A lot of people here, if they lose control—even for a second—they have a breakdown.' Sometimes, instead of going to church, Morgan sits in her car alone and listens to sermons on the radio." awesome. i heart control freaks.
i also love that some people tried to keep out women and there are no black students. and that they downplay their connection to the school in dc. be scared people. be very scared.

oh, one more thing. one could definitely make the argument that being raised by liberal parents and going to berkeley/nyu is the same thing in reverse. ;)

i was pretty blown away by that as well. also by the letter (was it seventeen pages?) that the guy wrote to her father...
the difference to me is that the homeschooled kids are already isolated from what is an integral part of growing up for most americans (that is, going to school for twelve years with their peers). also, i think that while nyu and berkeley are not known for strong conservative student bodies, those people do exist, and at the very least, the schools are located in places that are racially and economically diverse.
i got the impression that the rebel who listened to the sermon in her car was the closest thing patrick henry has to a dissenter. and there doesn't seem to be much racial diversity at the school.
