i hate lucko

for real. he raises to 90 in middle position. i re-raise to 240 w/ my JJ (trying to play tight, like hoy recommended, but aggressive). and he calls. wow, he must have a good hand, like maybe AK. i figure if he has AA or KK he pushes pre flop. so flop comes T87, i bet out more than pot (about 540) and he pushes all in. i call and he shows A fucking 9 OFFSUIT. and of course, in keeping w/ his lucky fucking name, a 6 comes on the turn. and i'm out. in 81st. stupid effing lucko. i hate him.

ok, caveat: i'm sure he's a really nice guy in real life. but for tonight, i hate him.

Another victim of Lucko. Two things:

1) He loves hands like that because they paint him as loose.

2) A9 is GOLD.

that's the scary part. everyone i know has been losing to A9 left and right. and i've won a few pots with it (unbelievably) myself. i called a decent raise w/ it after i got it the second time in a row last night, and then some loser pulls a squeeze play for 24k more. i decided not to risk all my chips w/ A9, he shows AK, and of course i would have won when a 9 hit on the river (the side pot, cause the shortie hit a straight flush). i should've known better than to fold A9. it's the new AA, except it doesn't seem to get cracked.

Like I told you last night, lucko is a different breed.

I went out in 80th, AK v AQ. We should start a support group.

Lucko is one of the original pimps and has made a name for himself in making plays like this. Not sure of the odds there for you to call, but it sounds like you just got screwed by the poker gods.

Don't hate the playa...

Lucko loves to semi-bluff draws. a lot of very good players do it. i've learned alot playing against and railing Lucko over the past coupla yrs. much respect for his game.

one could make an argument that you're overvaluing your overpairs. overbetting the pot got you somewhat committed. that was a draw heavy board and he might've even flopped a set on you or slow played a bigger pocket pair.

that's not to say you made a bad call. personally, I would've had trouble making that call so early in the tournament. but, i still might have, knowing Lucko likes to semibluff.

that being said, you had two of his outs without him knowing it. so, you had a decent edge taking that to the felt.
