ff and tv

so i lost this week's fantasy football match up by 1 point. yes, 1 point. if my starting quarterback had scored only TWO FUCKING POINTS i would have won, but i started my only qb who was playing this week, jon "asstard" kitna, and he scored me exactly ZERO. had i started the giants d rather than the texans d i also could have won. ARGH!

was very excited for fnl debut on friday, and it was some good shit. i forgot how much i enjoy the characters and the acting, but did not love the end of the episode. as a nyer article that work friend charlie pointed out, it will be interesting to see how they fit what happened into the greater story arc over the season.

the premiere of 30 rock on the other hand was FANTASTIC. that show makes me laugh so hard, and i just don't understand how millions of people are giving it a pass. click on this link and give it a shot. you know you like seinfeld. do it for seinfeld!! some of the "seinfeldvision" snippets are hilarious, especially the milf island one. throughout the episode i was having flashbacks to arrested development, and i'm wondering if the humor is just too esoteric for most viewers. you've got no excuse for not watching if you're off for columbus day.

was less impressed by this past week's episode of gossip girl, though i will continue to tivo it and see how it rolls along. have not yet watched chuck, but find myself looking forward to sitting down and watching the first three episodes in a sitting. hopefully this coming weekend. i also tivoed dirty sexy money and pushing daisies, but have not watched either. i am watching pushing daisies b/c of lee pace. he was in wonderfalls (an INCREDIBLY underrated show that was cancelled after one season -- i discovered it on dvd and so can you). given how badly i've been running at poker maybe taking a few nights off for quality tv time is a good idea. it will have to wait until thursday night, though, cause this week is super packed.

Hammer Wife and I are big fans of 30 Rock. That show really is funny.

I think Dirty Sexy Money is ghey, but my wife loves it and says it's the best new show out there right now. I recommend that you watch the first couple episodes of that show and see what you think.

Also, losing fantasy football by 1 point is just part of the game, just like always having people on your bench who could have won the game for you had you started them. Just like with poker, I think the trick is making what you know to be the "right" decisions in setting up your lineup for the game, not in looking back at results to see if you wish you had played some stiff instead. That's the same thing as wishing you'd called the preflop raise with that 83o just because the flop came K33.

I thought first episode of Dirty Sexy Money was okay. Haven't seen second episode yet. I think the only reason I want to watch it is because of the eye candy that is Peter Krause. (Same theory holds for Big Shots.)

Will eventually get around to 30 Rock . . .

When do I get my copy of Elf?

At least he didn't LOSE points. Until then, you have no idea what frustration is. Try losing by one point if Kitna got you -2 pts. That will send you over the edge. It did to me. Fuckin Bulger.

I watch too much TV.

Personally, I didn't think the 30 Rock episode was that great, but I still love the show. I think Seinfeld was under-utilized.

I watched Pushing Daisies last night for the first time. It was whimsical, but ultimately kinda too out there. It seems like too many shows are style over substance.

Gossip Girl was nothing to gossip about. The first episode seemed so typical and boring, I didn't even finish it.

I don't mean to be all negative. Just giving my opinions. Overall its been a disappointing season.

jordan - agree in that there are no heroes or 30 rocks (or even ugly bettys) like last season, at least not yet. last season had so many great new shows that it would be hard to top.

hoy - yay! sounds like hammer wife and i have similar taste in shows, i am so psyched for men in trees to return!!

ck - replied via comment on your blog. yay elf!

alan - less sympathy since you are ff pro and have better record.
