obligatory wire post
to celebrate the fifth and final (sob, sob) season premiere last night. if you have not watched this show, GO RENT OR BUY SEASON ONE NOW!!!!!!!! or, if your name is bayne, go hook up your damn dvd player! it is not as action packed as your average network television show, but the show was written with a five season arc in mind, so season 1 is really just a set up for all the great things to come. that's not to say it doesn't stand alone. see previous post here for great description of the show.
i am re-watching season 1 right now w/ a wire newbie and it is blowing my mind as i realize where characters end up, and recognize some jokes that seem even funnier knowing what happens in the show's future. season 3 was my favorite, but since i just re-watched season 4 i am thinking it might be even better. i didn't watch the first episode of season 5 last night b/c i finally got around to watching the battlestar galactica movie razor (astin, let's discuss), but i can't wait to go home tonight and start season 5.
as for razor, i thought it was not the tightest movie (very similar to the uneven season 3 of bsg), but it got me way more psyched for the final season, and was a pretty sweet idea to do a prequel and show how things on the pegasus came about. all the stuff about kara thrace was also intriguing. i have some theories, SPOILER ALERT, and one is that the dude (again, again, again) in the tub doesn't want to see kara fulfill her destiny as the leader of the cylons and humans, and wants to stop the evolution in god-like fashion. this is probably far fetched, but i remain impressed that i called from the first ep of heroes that nathan was indeed seeing himself as a burn victim when he looked in the mirror at that bar.
i will be posting some 2008 goals later this week, but right now work calls.

Don't be sad, be happy that A. Your show didn't get dragged out for too many seasons just for ratings purposes and B. Your show didn't get canceled it was able to tell its story (See: Carnivale). ABC announcing they had given Lost a schedule for its remaining episodes was possibly the best news I had ever heard about that show. Great dramas are supposed to have a structured end, most don't end up getting there, though.
Razor was a nice two-hour episode with a killer ending to make it relevant. It was pretty isolated from the rest of the series, but filled in a few gaps nicely.
All-in-all, very similar to season 3. Decent throughout, filling in holes, kick-ass at the end to whet your appetite for more.
Now if they'd just get to airing season 4... and end the strike so they can finish it!
I have season one at home and still am having trouble finding time to watch it.
I guess I'll add that to the list!
I'm still waiting for BSG season 3 on DVD. I've yet to see that year's episodes as I don't have the SciFi channel at home. I have both season 1 and 2 on DVD as well as Razor. I've heard good and bad about season 3. But seeing how they've made us all wait too damn long for season 3 to get to DVD, I've almost lost interest. Season 4 may be starting in April but by then will they still have the same fanbase? We'll see.
The Wire is, simply stated, the most well-made and compelling drama there has ever been on television, and its greatness has been sustained from Day 1.
Season 2 is my personal favorite, though I believe Season 4 is probably the "best" on an objective basis.
The criminal part is the lack of attention the show gets, and I honestly believe this is amost entirely due to the fact that the majority of important characters in the cast are black. We really haven't come that far, sadly.

I have no clue what any of you are talking about, but it sounds like you like it!
I just wanted to say thanks for dropping by Bedrock lj. Glad you like the story. I can tell you that "lol" took on a whole new meaning for the 3 of us that night.
Thanks again.
I'd also love to link you up!
For the first time ever in Bedrock, I offer you the decision on the name to be linked. You've been there, you know what the links look like.
Will it be;
Lawchicasaur
Medusaur
lj-a-raptor
You decide and it will be written in "Flintstone."
Just pick one and let me know in a comment and it's done.
This by the way is not really an honour! Just a first.
lol
Done deal !
(exactly as written too!)
Anyone who links most of my friends, can have ALMOST whatever they want.
That's just how we roll in Bedrock !
Two words: American Gladiator
cc i was so disappointed in american gladiators. now i'm wondering if it was that fake when i used to watch, or if i was just too young to realize.
wwf was ruined for me back in the day when my mom pointed out during a brutus "the barber" beefcake outside the ring fight (w/ some blond guy, i wanna say adrian?) that one of the guys was cracking up on camera in the middle of their "brawl".
