blogging/poker hiatus
no poker for me tonight (go rutgers!) and wed will be my last night of poker for awhile. i'm going to play in ftops 1, and will probably play a few other tournaments at the same time, but i leave thursday for a much needed vacation, and i think i need some time away from poker to get my head straight.
i'm really frustrated with all the bubbling i've been doing, and while i've had some successes at the same time, i have not been playing my best poker. i still have so much to learn and sometimes i find it overwhelming. every time i improve one aspect of my game, some other flaw is highlighted. i've said it before, but i need to make more time for videos and studying, and not let myself play just b/c i make it home in time for x tourney.
i hope that ten days or so away from poker will clear my head and give me some perspective. i already qualified for the ftops main event, so i'll be playing the sunday i return, and by that time i'm sure i'll be ready to play again.

So the question is why you are bubbling. Even moreso, why are you bubbling when you have the chip lead?
From watching you in the last couple blogger games, I can say the reason is pretty obvious in those instances at least. But you'll have to figure it out yourself perhaps.
astin, that's just mean. you're telling me you have an idea of why i'm bubbling but you're not going to share it w/ me?
as for last night, you are saying there is a reason aside from making a horrible flat call pre w/ QQ and a horrible river call when i knew i was beat?
Not mean, just getting you to think critically about your play. It's far more satisfying to have your own epiphany than have someone else point it out to you.
And yup. That hand and the one that followed are just symptoms. If not that one, then it would be a later one. As soon as you sat down at my table and pushed all-in the first time, I knew you wouldn't be keeping your stack.
Since I haven't been watching you play in the non-blogger tournaments, I can't say if your style in them is the same or not. I'd be willing to guess it's not far off, but since you aren't playing with bloggers, it works better there.
I'd suggest looking at your HH as if you were someone else. Ignore your hole cards and think in terms of your bets from a 3rd-person perspective.
So cool to hear from a poker playing girl!!! We need more of them.
Keep your head up and dont get frustrated. Poker is such a brutal grind. Sounds like the vacation will do you great for sure. Best of luck in the FTOPS. If you ever have any questions or want to poker chat just shoot me an email at rex5578@hotmail.com, or AIM me on Rex5578.
Lots of peace and luck to you girl!
Cheers,
Rexy =)
Since I was sitting next to you and watching you play in the Mookie last week, I watched you make some questionable decisions. I think if you look at those HHs, you find some compelling evidence of what's been wrong.
Vacation is good. Come back to poker with a refreshed viewpoint. I forget to take vacations from poker and then find I'm playing too hard and tilting way to easy.
Enjoy!
LJ have a great trip and vacation. Secondly, you do need someone who can truly give you an unbiased decison about what may be holding you back. I havent watched you play lately but it sounds like you may be taking too many unnecessary chances or perhaps targeting the wrong players out of position.
And I agree I seal a leak and another one emerges. I seem to have mastered getting paid off on connecters and gappers (crap) early on to build chips but then I tighen up way to much and then cant get my good hands to hold up :)
Enjoy your time away LJ.
Have a blast.
Enjoy your vacation. Sounds like a good time to "read". Finish those books you have started!
a style where you play very aggressively on the bubble will lead to a lot of bubbles, but also will lead to a lot of top 3 finishes.
hope things are turning around for you though
why no recap of your ownage of sucko in the heads up tournament?
