from ul to pb

pb = playing badly

i played terribly last night in the wall street poker tournaments. the first one i had a nice stack on the bubble and threw it away 4 betting w/ A2. i raised pre, and got basically min raised by pp. this should have been a clue that he was strong, and A2 is one of those hands where you can raise, but when you get repopped, you just have to lay it down. i got stubborn and ran into TT. i doubled up when i had K3 against A3 and sucked out a K on the river, but eventually went out when my AT couldn't overpower 88. i should have folded A2 quickly, and waited until a shorter stack busted, or at least until i had a better hand. sigh.

second hand i raised utg w/ AQo, which at an 11 handed table should have been an easy fold. i got two callers, and cbet on a K high flop. i ended up doubling the guy next to me who had QQ. just a horribly played hand. i went out quickly thereafter when my 77 went up against AQ and an A flopped. i didn't even want to play the second tournament, but in order to qualify for the end of season freeroll you have to play a certain number of tournaments, and i've fallen behind in recent weeks due to never being able to make it on the nights of the scheduled tournaments. since i was there anyway i figured why not.

check out al's blog for all the info on the latest bbt. i am surprised there wasn't more time b/w two and three, but w/ wsop seats being the prizes, it couldn't wait too much longer. i didn't really understand why bbtwo was opened up to everyone, since it doesn't seem to be much of a battle of the blogger tournaments if non-bloggers can sign up whenever they want, but my guess is ftp doesn't want to limit it? i'm curious to see if there is any blogging requirement for this one.

basically bbthree means no social life on weeknights for the foreseeable future. i like that the math and mookie don't start until 10pm, so i will occasionally have time for dinner or drinks before. essentially every weekend between now and the end of april is accounted for, so i won't even have a lot of my weekends free to see friends. obv i don't have to play in every event, but no reason not to maximize my shot at winning a wsop seat! i'm just bummed we didn't get leaderboard prizes for bbtwo!

It's not a 'Battle of the Blogger' Tournament, it's a Battle of the 'Blogger Tournaments', as in the battle takes place during the weekly blogger tournaments. It really has nothing to do with who is a blogger and who isn't.

I think Matt is right, but I would prefer it the first way tho.

i guess then my thinking is why call them blogger tournaments? just b/c a blogger happens to host them? if that's the case, then is any tournament hosted by Phil Ivey automatically a "professional" tournament and a battle of the professionals?

It really is more of a "battle of a collection of private FullTilt tourneys that happen to be hosted by bloggers".

Which is fine, I suppose, though I really wish it the former (as described by Mike M).

As it is, if the series becomes as popular as I expect, it's going to be akin to a lengthy bracelet race, which is also fine. But I prefer the relative intimacy of the bloggers who we read and interact with on a daily basis.

Hell, it's irrelevant for me, since I don't pokerz online on Wed/Thur, and my cracks at this will be limited, anyway.

I'll hold out for a sugar daddy buying me into the ME in exchange for live blogging. And I hear there's oceanfront property for sale in Arizona, too.

As a frequent reader of many of the blogs, as well as a participant in many of the tourneys, my selfish hope is that it is open to readers as well, since I am pretty sure no one wants to read my ramblings--therefore I have no blog. That said, if I was in your shoes, I'd probably feel the same way you do.
