you have a worse hand?

if so, you're gold against me! monday night i lost at the final table of a ko w/ 88 v. 77, and then a few hands later w/ 77 v. 55. the first one was with the second biggest stack at the table (i was the chip leader by a huge margin) and if i win that i have close to 160k with the next stack having 15k. grrrrrrrrrrr.

last night i went out of the 24k around 100 something with KK v. 99. i also lost with KK to 88 on the bubble of a satellite, which crippled me, and on the next hand the same player raised my bb, i jammed with 99, and his K2s flushed me on the river. sigh.

when you only play a few tournaments a night, as i do, you are going to have bad beats and get coolered, and there's nothing you can do about it. i try to two or three table, in part to increase my odds of making it deep in at least one tournament. doesn't mean it's not frustrating when twice in five hands a worse pp sucks out on you, but it's just ul. i think about all the times i've sucked out with the worse hand, and remember that what goes around eventually comes around, even if it doesn't always seem that way.

i'm sick (sore throat, congestion, blech) but may play the mookie anyway. probably a game time decision depending on how tired i feel.

I hope you feel better soon!

I've been completely card dead for a week. I'd love to see a pocket pair once and while.

My absolute least favorite hand is AQ - its the hand of the devil. Its a dog against any two cards.

I do agree that bad beats hurt more in tournaments because it ruins everything good that you've done up until that point.

Interestingly, I find bad beats in cash games to hurt much, much more, because you're often times losing several hundred dollars as a direct result, instead of just losing your $10 buyin or whatever. Not that I like mtt suckouts either of course, but I'd rather lose to one in a tourney than at a cash table any day of the week.

Play the effing Mookie already.
