freaky day
yesterday afternoon i went to try and get my tendinitis fixed, and allowed the doctor to give me a cortisone shot in each hand. cortisone shots hurt. i had planned to go back to work, but my hands were killing me, and i couldn't really type or do much of anything with them. when i got up at my subway stop i suddenly noticed that i was sweating profusely, and i think for the first time i knew what it feels like when you're about to faint. my vision started blurring, and my knees went weak, but something in my brain said YOU ARE NOT FAINTING IN THE SUBWAY STATION and i somehow put one foot in front of the other and by the time i got out of the station i was feeling better, albeit still sweating intensely. i made it home and laid in my bed with my arms elevated, but around 6 and two aleeve later i realized i was not falling asleep and instead signed in for the 6pm 16k. it was not a bad idea, as i built up a huge stack in the middle of the tournament and rode luck and some people playing very badly against me to finish 4th.
anyway, hands are still hurting, typing = bad, but i know i'm not likely to do a recap later. relatively early i hit a set of 9s from my bb to bust JJ (all in on flop), and hit a set of Ts to bust AQ on Q high flop (all in on flop) and also won w/ KK on J high flop v. QJ. i had lots of slightly better hands beat worse hands/won flips (AQ > AJ, AQ > A9, AT > A5, AQ > TT, AA > AK) but got lucky (AJ > AQ, KQ > AA) a few times in key spots. in my final two hands i ran AT into AK and didn't improve, and then shoved AT over A5 only to watch the eventual winner hit a 5 (impressive, as he is the one i cracked AA with my KQdd). he then beat JJ or TT w/ A8 to get hu, and beat AQ hu w/ A4 to take it down. he ran good, even despite my suckout.
i would have preferred my first big online mtt tournament win, but given how badly i was running a few weeks ago, i'm relatively happy with 4th.
on the other hand lucko seems immune from finishing anywhere but first, and he took down yet another 25k on stars last night for 6k and change. yawn.
